DDAKJI: the game prior to the squid game and its meaning

The series that has caused an earthquake of magnitude 10 in Netflix left many unknowns and questions still to solve waiting for a second season that, almost certainly, will take place. The first of the questions he was around for our heads was what would have changed if Gi-Hun had chosen the other paper color in the previous game (Ddakji) to be a participant? The most logical answer that fans found is that in that previous choice that allowed them to make the seller before making the famous game was that, according to color, you could be participant (blue) or soldier (red).

A premise that would fit perfectly with what is reflected in the series, because the few we could see falling in this challenge chose the color blue and, later, ended up within the main game as participants. However, every doubt was clear by the director, Dong-Hyuk Hwang, who disarmed the theory by stating that the color had nothing to do with recruitment but with a tribute that wanted to do Aka Manto, the Japanese legend.

Fountain: Redbubble

It is an urban legend that is based on a masked spirit with a red layer that occurs in the public bathrooms of Japan. It is said that this spirit asks you a question when you access the bathroom, red or blue? And your answer, whatever death will cause you, so the most sensible thing is to ignore it to ensure life.

With this director's response we can above that Gi-Hun's participation in the game was going to be assured, giving the choice of color in the DDAKJI. So we still have to solve another of the questions that this statement has left. Who are the soldiers behind the mask?
