International ‘otaku’ day

On December 15, the International Day of ‘Otaku’ is celebrated, and although it is not official, it is a very marked and popular date on the Internet. Manga, anime and cosplay lovers pay tribute to that part of Japanese culture.

Everything has a reason and this day was not going to be the exception. The reason for the celebration of this day on December 15 is that it coincides with the day the article was published with the description of Nakamori, although in reality it is not official. The only thing that is known for sure is that each time the otaku community is larger and the celebration of this day accompanies that growth.

What does it mean to be Otaku?

The term ‘otaku’ is used to define a person whose hobbies are related to anime, manga and cosplay. Although this term also has a pejorative connotation in Japan, which is used to call a person with obsessive hobbies.

Some of the events that manage to gather this community are the famous comics conventions, where they take the opportunity to disguise their favorite comic, series, movies or video games. They also take advantage of Halloween's festival to highlight their knowledge of Japanese culture and thus personify characters related to her.
